Lliving here one can enjoy a country life but within easy reach of lively town life and entertainment of which Colchester is famous. There are a wide variety of restaurants and eating places to choose from. There is also a thriving music scene with many local bands. The location provides facilities for Sailing, Rowing and Canoeing as well as saltwater and freshwater fishing. Winter fish being mainly cod and whiting. Although flat fish can be found in the river as can eels. Nearby Wivenhoe has a sailing club with facilities for leisure sailing as well as a very good racing season from April till December. 30 minutes drive away is Brightlingsea which boasts a Yacht club and a Sailing club which has been host to several world champion sailors. The seaside towns of Frinton, Walton and Clacton are less than an hours drive away. And also the quaint old world seaside towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh are roughly 1 hours drive away up the famous A12. Mersea island with it's Yacht Clubs and and beaches are 20 minutes drive away.
